This morning I still cannot stop thinking about Bill Maher’s journey to the White House this week. And the rest of the show was unsettling too. Did you see it? What did you think?
Maher has been busy attempting to enlarge his tent, I guess. He rails about pronouns and other things the left has embraced or, at least tolerated. Woke was his favorite word for awhile and he droned on about the noun/verb before it was hardly a thing. He helped put it on the map, I suppose. He whines about college students like a grumpy old grandpa that doesn’t understand youngsters.
But last night while sitting on a stool like a pigeon, he gave a report to his viewers about his two and one half hours of Presidential time he squandered at the visit. Per Maher, Trump was nice, funny, charming, generous. And this visit of his was happening at the same time that he (Trump) was ruining the world’s economy and defying court orders. WTF? A comedian meets up with a wannabe dictator and all is hunky dory. Yeah. Right.
And if that wasn’t enough, he hosted Steve Bannon who declared the 2020 election stolen and pronounced that Trump would win again in 2028…and Bill let all that go, ignoring the content all together except to say that the Dems could run Obama if that is the way GOP wanted to play it. See my last post for my thoughts on that. Was the lack of pushback on Bannon done with a wink and a nod that they were both there to push their brand? Was it out of politeness? Was it a pre-agreement? Who knows? For me it was disturbing and meaningless simultaneously.
Maher can be funny and entertaining but this was neither funny nor entertaining. He even snarked at one of his own invited panel guests suggesting the guy he invited on the panel was the worst panelist. Who does that?
Perhaps Maher is deep down a coward that is afraid of Trump’s regime. Or not. After all, Trump seemingly could whisk him away to gulag somewhere without due process at anytime now the Supreme’s have failed us again. Whatever it was, it was disappointing and it was not the least bit entertaining.
I never thought Bill Maher was funny -
He's now a shill for Trump being the kind gentle leader of the Gestapo.
I have to wonder if Maher knew that according to some historians Hitler could be charming too? https://medium.com/@pagany/hitler-the-soft-hearted-side-no-one-talks-about-570c959992ca Why didn't Maher use this chance of confront Trump on his sadism and on the human suffering he has caused and continues to cause?

Whatever else you may say about Bill Maher, I never figured him for a hopeless romantic. But he is. After visiting the White House last week, he said he had to report that the crazy man on television, President Donald Trump, is not who he saw at the White House during a two-hour dinner that included Steve Bannon.
Seriously?
